Junior Group
Junior Group Leader
Dr. Maria Nerantzaki joined the Laboratory of Chemistry of Informational Macromolecules (LCIM) at ISIS as Junior Group Leader in 2024, to conduct research that will contribute to the objectives of the ‘MoleculArXiv’ exploratory (PEPR) project, which is dedicated to the storage of massive data on DNA and artificial polymers. She studied Chemistry (2008-2012) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in Greece. She completed her Master in Polymer Science and Technology at AUTH in 2014 and her PhD in 2017, working on the development of bio-relevant and biocompatible polyesters, under the supervision of Prof. D. Bikiaris. In late 2017, she joined the group of Prof. Christine Ménager at PHENIX laboratory of Pierre et Marie-Curie (Sorbonne) University in France, to work as a post-doctoral researcher. During her first pots-doc, she received a very competitive fellowship offered by the Bodossaki Foundation (Athens, Greece) to carry out independent research in the field of polymer-based magnetic nanomaterials, for a period up to 3 years. As a Bodossaki Foundation fellow (2018-2021), she was hosted by PHENIX laboratory in Paris and by Institut Charles-Sadron in Strasbourg. As a post-doctoral researcher in the team of Prof. Jean-François Lutz at ISIS (2022-2023), she investigated how different tools of DNA nanotechnology could be used to manipulate the stored Information in synthetic digital polymers. Today, her scientific interests focus on innovative synthesis concepts to achieve non-natural, biological and bio-hybrid informational polymers to solve current challenges in materials and biomaterials science.

- Recipient of the Bodossaki Foundation Fellowship Program 2018 for Research Abroad
Under this program, fellowships are awarded to young Greek scientists for conducting independent research projects outside their home country. In 2018, 2 excellence scholarships were offered by the Bodossaki Foundation.
- Selected to attend the 67th Nobel Laureates Meeting, which was dedicated to Chemistry
The organizing Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings selected among many applicants, 5 Greek PhD students with academic excellence, to join the gathering of Nobel Laureates at Lindau from June 26th until July 1st 2017. The participation to this event was covered by Onassis foundation.
PhD Candidates
Oskar Affenberger 🇫🇷
My name is Oskar Affenberger, originally from Strasbourg. I hold a DUT in Organic and Analytical Chemistry, a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry-Biology, and a master’s degree in Supramolecular Chemistry. Since September 2024, I’m pursuing a PhD at ISIS in the laboratory of J.F. Lutz, under the supervision of M. Nerantzaki and J.F. Lutz. My research focuses on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of high-performance bio-hybrid polymers.
Master Students
Jakub Ossowski 🇵🇱
I come from Łódź, Poland. I obtained my Batchelor’s degree in Łódź University of Technology where I worked on organocatalysis in the group of Prof. Łukasz Albrecht. After graduating, I completed an internship at KAUST in Saudi Arabia under the supervision of Prof. Magnus Rueping. In 2023 I moved to Strasbourg to pursue a Master’s degree as part of CSC graduate school. I joined the group for my M2 internship and I’m investigating bio-hybrid informational polymers.
