Permanent Staff

Corinne Ledger 🇫🇷, Secretary

I joined Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) in 2014. Today I am the group assistant of 3 research teams.

I did my BA degree in Human Resources part time (evenings) while working at the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse as a Personal Assistant and carrying out projects in Human Resources.

Paul Baxter, CNRS Researcher 🇬🇧

Overall research thematic: The metamaterials science of hybrid supramolecular systems

Currently collaborating with Jean-François Lutz on the synthesis of “digital polymers” for the purpose of information storage by chemical codes.

Quentin Combe 🇫🇷, Assistant Engineer
I am Quentin, and I come from Bourgogne, France. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from the University of Strasbourg. I joined the LCIM group in April 2024 as an assistant engineer.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Dr. Zhaozheng Yang 🇨🇳
Hey, I’m Zhaozheng Yang. I received my Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Jean-Marie Lehn at University of Strasbourg. Since 2023, I joined the Laboratory of Chemistry of Informational Macromolecules (Dr. Jean-Francois Lutz) at Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering in University of Strasbourg. My current research focuses on the development of sequence defined (informational) polymers.

Dr. Ranajit Barman 🇮🇳

I obtained my PhD in 2022 under the supervision of Professor Suhrit Ghosh from the Indian Association for the cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India. During my  PhD I worked on the synthesis and self-assembly of functional polyurethanes for biological applications. Since November, 2023 I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in this group. My research interest includes synthesis of information encoded macromolecules and data storage in 2D and 3D organization of digital polymers utilising layer-by-layer deposition procedures.

PhD Candidates

Benoit Pousse 🇫🇷

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Orléans in 2020, and I moved to Grenoble to pursue the Master’s degree SOIPA. I completed my M2 internship in Strasbourg under the supervision of Dr. Mylène Lang and Dr. Nicolas Kern in the Compain Group, where I worked on glycochemistry.

Since October 2022, I have been working on phosphorus (V) chemistry in the JF Lutz Group as a PhD candidate.

Hugo Guilmain 🇫🇷

Hello, my name is Hugo. I’m from Mayenne, a small region in the west of France. I started my chemistry career at the University Institute of Technology in Le Mans. Then, I joined the Faculty of Chemistry at Le Mans Université for a Bachelor’s degree. After that, I moved to Montpellier for a Master’s degree in Chemistry of Biomolecules. In 2022, I joined this group for a PhD. I’m working on a new way to synthesize sequence-defined polymers by radical chemistry.

Alex Petropoulos 🇬🇷

Hey there, my name is Alexandros and I come from Greece. I graduated as a Chemist from the University of Ioannina where I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Organic Photochemistry. I am currently carrying out a PhD thesis on the photo-acceleration of digital polymers synthesis. Some of my scientific interests include organic chemistry and photochemistry, information containing macromolecules and medicine.

Ala Covas 🇲🇩

I come from the Republic of Moldova. I moved to Strasbourg in 2018 to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg. Then, I continued with the Chemistry, Biology, and Medicine Master’s program at the same university.

In 2023, I started my PhD with Dr. Jean François Lutz’s team. My research focuses on synthesis of sequence-defined polymers and exploring their interactions with ionic liquids. The PhD is part of Funambulist, an EIC project.

Georgette Obeid 🇱🇧

I come from Halba, a small town in the north of Lebanon. I studied chemistry and received my bachelor’s degree from the Lebanese University. I was then awarded the CSC graduate school scholarship from the University of Strasbourg, where I obtained my Master’s degree. I joined Lutz Lab for my Master 2 internship, and I have continued in the lab to pursue a Ph.D. focusing on synthesizing poly(phosphodiester)s for data storage applications, aiming to sequence these polymers by nanopore technology. My Ph.D. is part of the 01Pores project, funded by ANR and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Aymeric Nicolas 🇫🇷

Originally from the South-East of France in Carpentras, I am today an Organic and Molecular Chemistry Engineer. Indeed, after three years of « Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE) » I was able to join the European School of Chemistry (ECPM) in Strasbourg where I specialized in Organic and Molecular Chemistry while following a dual degree (Master) in Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg.

Since September 2024, I have been working on digital data storage at the molecular scale as a PhD student under the supervision of J.F. Lutz from ISIS and J.F. Nierengarten from LIMA
